Workshop Outline
Many Managers have responsibility for appraising their subordinates performance within a formal appraisal scheme. All too often such schemes do not work as well as they could, and systems can fall into ill repute yet other organisations see their appraisal schemes as fundamental to their success. To work properly, good appraisal schemes need to be supported by the very special skill of appraisal interviewing.
Workshop Objective
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
• Identify the purpose and scope of the appraisal interview
• Outline the steps required to prepare for this type of interview.
• Conduct appraisal interviews so that the subordinate is motivated to improve his or her performance.
• Use the appraisal interview as an opportunity to facilitate change.
• Identify training and development needs through the use of appraisal interviewing.
